About Sycamore Monuments

Sycamore Monuments began in 1969. At that time it was known as Alexander and Miller Monuments owned by Loren Alexander and Ed Miller. They sold cemetery markers and had contracts with several cemeteries to repair older sections of their cemeteries by putting in new foundations and cement aprons which improved the appearance of the cemeteries.

Because of their fine reputation and quality of work they didn't want to sell their business to just anyone but wanted to continue their good reputation. They sold their partnership to another partnership of Charles Crawford and Wilson Mitchell at which time the name was changed to Sycamore Monuments. Later Charles Crawford became the sole proprietor.

In the beginning, the business was operated out of the Crawford home on the south side of Sycamore until it was moved in August of 1983 to 1190 E. State Street in Sycamore. This gave more room for our trucks and equipment where it is located today on Route 64, the East end of town.
